I started fishing when I was about 10 years old going down the local drain and generally having a laugh with mates, dad was never really into it and only took us now and again when we got a bit older we would just go off fishing for the day or dad would drop us off somewhere and come back for us later (Cant do that with your kids these days).

When I was in the RAF I was match fishing every week usually on the river Trent this was great out fishing on one of the best rivers in the country and getting paid for it.

When I came out of the RAF in 1989 I went fishing for pleasure and enjoyed floater fishing for Carp I just love watching them feed off the surface.

In 1990 a mate (Mike Berridge) asked if I fancied going to the river Swale after Barbel with him, I went along and caught my first Barbel a demon of a fish at 7lb 7oz, I went out the next day and bought some Barbel rods and the fasination for Barbel as been with me ever since.

I have bought an old shogun that I use for fishing fed up of my car getting in a state.

I fished the Swale, Nidd and Ure with Mike for a couple of seasons and then started travelling back to the Trent on a weekly basis fishing usually at Fiskerton in the horse field. I love fishing on the Trent and started taking 2 other mates 3 seasons ago and now we fish together every week in season.

We now fish a syndicate stretch of the Trent and usually catch Barbel every trip.
